Vincent L. Calvert
Vincent was born in 1989 in San Luis Obispo, CA.
Throughout his childhood, his family attended many churches of differing doctrinal beliefs. He learned to be a good boy with high morals and to live kindly among others, but he was not born again. He believed he was, because he was well-natured, didn’t curse, and was chivalrous. But these characteristics do not make a christian. Vincent was formally falsely converted in the early summer of 2007 when his youth group leader led him through a quick prayer. There was no follow up to determine the legitimacy of his conversion. Vincent was another victim of “easy-believism”.
After high school, Vincent joined the NAVY as a submarine SONAR operator. It was there that his false faith in Christ was put through the wringer. It was during those five years of service that he struggled immensely as he attempted to “live a good life”. A vicious duality of flesh and spirit raged within him and caused much grief and depression. Though he sought out church services, while in port, he did so as a matter of tradition. He often felt convicted, but he was too afraid to turn to Jesus Christ for salvation because “Surely, God won’t take me after all my sinning.”
In 2012 Vincent was honorably discharged from the NAVY and he married his sweetest friend and greatest support, Calli. Unknown to her, and not entirely understood by Vincent, they were unequally yoked in marriage, until five years later. Vincent would listen to sermons regularly and he felt convicted. Something inside was pulling him to Jesus, while the other side was pushing him away. After many years of refusal to get right with God, Vincent felt ashamed of how he was portraying himself as he simultaneously testified of being a christian. To make a long story short: late one night in January 2017, after a particularly bad day at work, He finally broke down and surrendered to Jesus Christ as his Saviour, WHILE HE WAS DRIVING HOME from work. Jesus will always meet you wherever you are. Vincent immediately felt a change within him. He felt lighter and wanted to read the Bible. And he did.
It was by reading the Bible that Vincent developed a lot of questions about the Bible, church, and theology in general. He visited many churches and asked a lot of questions, but was often met with incredulity and arrogance. So Vincent kept praying, reading the Bible, and developing a godly relationship with his wife. As Vincent and Calli grew stronger in the Lord, they simultaneously grew stronger in marriage. Over time the Lord had revealed His will. They felt called to missions and started making provisions for that. Their desire was to know Christ better and to serve both Him and His people. Therefore in the interim, they both sought online Bible Institutes.
Vincent received his Bachelor in Divinity at The Bible Doctrine Institute. His desire is to help people understand how to rightly divide the word of truth, and he wants to encourage people to really seek the Lord through His word. In doing so, people will be able to read and understand the Bible on their own and to live a holy life according to God’s will.
Vincent and Calli eagerly await the arrival of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The time draws near that the Lord should return in all His glory. The Lord has led Vincent to start the Bible Believers Baptist Church Central Coast to strengthen the saints, and to remind us to keep up the good fight, hold the fort for Christ is coming! Oh, joy! oh, delight! should we go without dying!
To all you saints, Keep your ears open for the trump! Soon you will hear, “COME UP HITHER!”
